I heard that if one starts on Ash Wednesday with the First Chapter of the Gospel of St. Matthew and reads two chapters a night, one can be reading the last two Chapters of St. John’s Gospel on Holy Saturday. So Charlie and I decided to do it. O, and BTW, for those of you who have all the “smart” phones, there’s an app for that!
Just read an interesting article about wearing ashes to work. I was told growing up that since they were a sacramental that we should not just wash them off, that they should wear off. So even when I shower, I don’t deliberately wash my forehead, so that my ashes usually last until Friday. I would always wear them to work and they did offer an opportunity to scandalize all the Southern Baptists that I worked with. **tee-hee** http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/going-public-for-lent-catholics-wear-ashes-to-work/
Speaking of Evangelization, Michael Voris had a great program on doing this during Lent. We already are doing the praying and fasting part of it. Now, we just have to get the talking part down. He advises that we give up our cowardice, our spiritual sloth, and go save a soul. http://www.churchmilitant.tv/daily/?today=2014-03-05
Finally, if you want to read something funny about giving up things for Lent. http://www.catholicvote.org/40-things-you-should-give-up-for-lent/ Reminds me of my mom who always gave up sex during Lent. 🙂
Spiritual Sloth – love it!
